Abstract
|
|
|
Analytic results of the external proficiency tests in clinical microbiology in 1991, performed on 10 control organisms by participating laboratories of 145 on trial l and 148 on trial 2, were summarized as follows.
1. In the identification of Enterobacteriaceae, Hafnia alvei and Shigella sonnei were accurately identified by more than 90% of the laboratories, while 'no acceptable' result was reported by 18.2% of the laboratories for Serratia marcescens.
2. The identification results of Pseudomonas acidovorans and Achromobacter xylosoxidans were not acceptable in 12.8% and in 20.1% of the participating laboratories respectively.
3. The identificiation results of Branhamella catarrhalis and Candida parapsilosis were not acceptable in 15.0% and in 21.7% of the laboratories.
4. One of the reason why there showed low accuracy in the identification of some microorganisms was judged to be due to the infrequency with which they had been isolated in clinical laboratories.
5. the antimicrobial susceptibility testing results of control organisms except Streptococcus pyogenes showed reletively high consistent rate among laboratories.
